    The Central City Public Schools maintains a strong academic college prep program. There are currently 45 buildings or districts in the state that have achieved Outcomes Accreditation Status with North Central. Three of those 45 buildings are, Central City Elementary, Middle and Senior High School.
     
    Central City Public Schools is governed by a 6-member board of education, and serve four-year terms. The board members are elected by wards, but serve the entire district and three members are elected every two years.

Community Profile

Merrick County Health & Fitness Center, heated swimming pool, whirlpool hot tub, fitness room, walking track, basketball and racquetball courts, cardiac deck and community room.
 
Central City Public Library, located in downtown Central City offers many services and has a meeting room for community meetings.
 
Merrick County Child Care Development, offers state licensed child care.  Funds for the facility come from federal grant money and local donations.
