  • In August 2005 the communities of Gordon and Rushville joined together to provide a quality education. The district provides a K-5 Elementary school in both Gordon and Rushville. The 6-8 grade students from both communities attend middle school in Rushville and the 9-12 students attend high school in Gordon.

Community Information:
 
The village of Gordon was incorporated on November 19, 1885 and has grown into a second class city with a population of approximately 1,800. There are three parks, public tennis courts, 4 ball parks and a heated outdoor swimming pool that is open from late May until August. The auditorium of the Municipal Building provides an indoor basketball court and stage area for plays and concerts. The Gordon City Library was built in 1987 and is a modern state accredited facility. The Gordon Volunteer Rescue Squad serves the ambulance needs of the area. It has two fully equipped ambulances and sixteen emergency medical technicians.  Gordon has a volunteer Fire Department and has more than 40 volunteers.  Law enforcement and protection is managed by the Gordon Police Department. Gordon has a city manager-council form of government. The Council consists of the Mayor and four Council members.
 
Rushville, the county seat of Sheridan County, is located in the northwestern section of Nebraska, 90 miles east of the Wyoming border and 25 miles from the South Dakota state line. U.S. Highway 20 and Nebraska Highway 87 intersect one mile west of Rushville. Nebraska Highway 250 runs south of Rushville to connect with Nebraska Highway 2. Rushville is 312 miles northeast of Denver, Colo.; 450 miles northwest of Omaha, Neb.; and 130 miles southeast of Rapid City, S.D.
